A few years back, if someone told the Heyday Canning Co. crew they'd be running a canned food company, they'd probably laugh it off. Canned food was just boring, right? No flavor, no fun – or so they thought.
Then came the lightbulb moment: the problem wasn't the can; it was what they put in it. Armed with a pressure canner and some mason jars, they hit the kitchen to create exciting, delicious recipes.
Starting with beans, they cooked up Heyday's first line. It wasn't all smooth sailing – there was even a near-bean explosion incident (a wild story for another day). But after lots of testing, they flipped the script on canned food, proving it could be anything but ordinary.
Since 1937, our family has been growing wholesome, great-tasting rice while tending to soil, air, water, and wildlife as carefully as our crops. That’s why we use organic farming practices, say no to GMOs, build soil health, provide habitat for hundreds of species, and offset our manufacturing facilities with 100% renewable energy. And it’s definitely why we save baby ducks. In fact, when we find a duck’s nest in our fields, we hand carry the eggs to safety. And if we care that much about ducks, imagine how much we care about our rice.
